DNS Fundamentals 2: Overview of Federal Regulations
Have you heard that if you provide good quality care, then good survey outcomes will automatically follow? That is true in a general sense, but compliance with the specific federal requirements for being licensed as a Medicaid and Medicare facility is critical to know as a DNS. This session provides an overview of federal regulations to help you to lead your team’s compliance efforts. Once you and your team know about and implement federal regulatory requirements, you can focus on quality bedside care. From this session, you’ll gain the foundation for compliance so that you can focus on quality care.
This session will help you:
- Detail the CMS regulatory documents and resources that govern Medicare and Medicaid facility licensing
- Outline the federal survey process and describe the critical elements a DNS needs to know about to prepare, experience, and respond to the annual survey process
- Review the governing entities that impact SNF care and where to find information on complying with OSHA, CDC, OIG, GAO, Office of Civil Rights, emergency preparedness, and the Life-Safety Code
