DNS Fundamentals 3: Managing Quality in the Nursing Department
While quality is everyone’s goal, there are specific quality programs that govern the nursing home systems. From federally mandated Quality Measures that are posted for public viewing on Nursing Home Compare to the Quality Reporting Program, Value-Based Purchasing, and Accountable Care Organizations that impact payment, the DNS is caught in the middle of the compliance web. If you are a new DNS, the quality reporting systems can be confusing. This session outlines the key federal quality reporting systems and explain how they impact day-to-day operations.
This session will help you:
- Outline the regulatory requirements of the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in the nursing facility
- Describe the DNSs role in complying with the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program requirements
- Review the components of the federally required MDS assessment, Quality Measures (QMs), Quality Reporting Program (QRP), Value-Based Purchasing Program (VBP) and the Five-star Rating System
