Considering the increase in survey scrutiny, the high cost of litigation, and the emphasis on quality in long-term care, once an allegation of abuse occurs in your facility, a thorough investigation is critical.

During this 60-minute webinar, Denise Winzeler, BSN, RN, LNHA, DNS-CT, QCP, will review a real-life scenario and show nurse leaders how to apply a five-step approach to a comprehensive abuse investigation. Nurse leaders will also learn what to do with the information once they finish the investigation.

After participating in this session, learners will be able to:

  • Understand why a thorough investigation and follow-up after an abuse allegation is necessary
  • Apply the five steps to complete a thorough post-alleged abuse investigation
  • Recall how to follow-up after the investigation of the alleged abuse is complete

In June 2022, CMS released updated guidance for phase 2 and 3 requirements. As part of this release, F608 was deleted and its contents moved to F609. The handouts have been updated with the new version of the reporting table that is now located in F609.

Learners must view at least 80% of the entire video and complete the associated evaluation to receive the contact hours. No partial credit will be awarded. Contact hours will be awarded for this activity until July 7, 2024.
