On-Demand Webinar: AAPACN's Breakdown of the FY 2022 SNF PPS Proposed Rule
Recorded On: 05/20/2021
Each spring, nurse assessment coordinators anxiously anticipate the release of the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) Proposed Rule, which will impact the upcoming fiscal year (FY) and beyond. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) allows 60 days for stakeholders to review the proposals and submit comments, which will be taken into account prior to the release of the final rule that is anticipated by early August.
The FY 2022 Proposed Rule covers the usual updates to the SNF payment rates and market basket, as well as ICD-10-CM code mapping and changes to the SNF Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and the SNF Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) program. In addition, CMS is seeking comments on recalibrating the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) case-mix index (CMI) values to account for an unintended increase in payments, which was expected to be budget neutral.
Join Jessie McGill, RN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, in this 60-minute session for a breakdown of the key elements of the proposed rule. You’ll gain an understanding of why these changes are being proposed and learn how you can get involved and make your voice heard.
After participating in this session, learners will be able to:
- Recognize the key changes proposed by CMS in the FY 2022 Proposed Rule
- Understand the “why” behind the proposed changes
- Construct a plan to get involved
