On-Demand Webinar: Refocusing on PDPM in the Wake of COVID-19

Recorded On: 12/03/2020

When the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) launched last October, most long-term care professionals believed PDPM would hold the spotlight for 2020. But when the public health emergency (PHE) was declared, COVID-19 rightfully overshadowed PDPM. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provided waivers, expectations, and put holds on medical reviews and Payroll-Based Journal submissions. However, even though the PHE has been renewed and the danger of COVID-19 endures, CMS lifted many of the exceptions and now expects facilities to renew focus on quality and accuracy. In this 60-minute webinar, AANAC curriculum development specialist, Jessie McGill, will take a close look at what opportunities nurse assessment coordinators (NACs) may have missed capturing under PDPM, how today’s MDS coding will impact future quality outcomes, and other items, like updates to PEPPER and CASPER reports, that may been have overlooked along the way.

Following this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Investigate Quality Measures and identify when today’s outcomes will be publicly reported
  • Identify three common mistakes made when determining usual performance for section GG
  • Recognize the training needed to support successful MDS resident interviews for accurate reimbursement
  • Review the PEPPER report and identify three items NACs need to refocus on
