- Explain ICD-10-CM chapter-specific coding guidelines relevant to the long-term care setting
- Assign ICD-10-CM codes accurately
- Understand documentation required for ICD-10-CM assignment
- Demonstrate appropriate assignment of admission and principal diagnoses in the medical record
- Understand the use of ICD-10-CM on claims and how to avoid denials
- Describe common missteps of ICD-10-CM coding and auditing strategies
