Upon completion of the Leadership and Management of Clinical Reimbursement for the Advanced Medicare Specialist course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the leadership role of the Medicare specialist
  • Detail the various systems that the Medicare specialist must monitor for accuracy
  • Understand the required skills when hiring a nurse assessment coordinator (NAC)
  • Identify the various areas of training and education needed for both new and experienced NACs
  • Describe care coordination components
  • Detail how the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process impacts survey outcomes and describe operational strategies needed for survey compliance
  • Describe Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) payment initiatives and their impact on the NAC role

1.75 contact hours will be awarded for this continuing nursing education activity. Learners must complete the entire education activity and associated evaluation to receive the contact hours. No partial credit will be awarded. Contact hours will be awarded for this activity until December 6, 2025.
