Most nursing home staff will experience a wide array of resident behaviors on a daily basis. This can be a challenge at times, especially if staff are under-prepared. During this 75-minute webinar, AAPACN Curriculum Development Specialists, Denise Winzeler, RN, BSN, LNHA, DNS-MT, QCP-MT, and Jessie McGill, RN, BSN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, will discuss how to develop a successful behavior management program by establishing systematic approaches to assess residents with behaviors, complete sound documentation, accurately code the MDS, develop a care plan to implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate for effectiveness. After participating in this session, learners will be able to:

• Recognize the connection between coding behaviors accurately on the MDS assessment and the development of appropriate care plan interventions 

• Identify the steps to person-centered care for residents with behaviors

• Implement a systematic approach to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements

1.25 contact hours will be awarded for this continuing nursing education activity. Learners must view at least 80% of the entire video and complete the associated evaluation to receive the contact hours. No partial credit will be awarded. Contact hours will be awarded for this activity until February 29, 2027.
