The Fourth of July fireworks are over, so now it’s time to light a new fuse—on Five-Star success! Nearly every piece of Minimum Data Set (MDS) coding plays a role in shaping the Five-Star Quality Rating, but it’s not always obvious how. Join AAPACN Senior Curriculum Development Specialist, Jessie McGill, RN, BSN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, to explore MDS 3.0 Quality Measures (QMs) calculations, how these measures impact the Five-Star rating, and how the interdisciplinary team can improve outcomes. From MDS accuracy checks to root-cause analysis (RCA), this 90-minute webinar will uncover what’s really driving poor QM performance and how to correct course effectively.
After participating in this session, learners will be able to:
• Identify how individual MDS 3.0 items contribute to specific QMs used in the Five-Star Rating System
• Recognize the impact of QMs on the Five-Star Quality Rating overall star rating
• Use RCA to identify systematic problems that may impact adverse QM outcomes
1.5 contact hours will be awarded for this continuing nursing education activity. Learners must view at least 80% of the entire video and complete the associated evaluation to receive the contact hours. No partial credit will be awarded. Contact hours will be awarded for this activity until July 24, 2028.
